Another season, another re-imagining of a classic play by Robert Icke. This summer, it was the highly enjoyable Player Kings – this winter, it’s a new take on Sophocles’ Oedipus starring acting veterans Lesley Manville (The Crown, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris) and Mark Strong (Zero Dark Thirty, Shazam!). A story about a very messy family, Oedipus has ample possibilities for a modern retelling, and will be interesting to see which direction Icke takes the two and half millenia-old story.
Like Player Kings, Oedipus has under-30s seats available throughout its run, with deals available in both the Stalls and Royal Circle levels. For some reason, however, these aren’t showing at the provided link – but you can still book them by calling the box office.
